Substance Abuse

If drug and alcohol abuse were a country, it’d be the third largest nation in the world, at 270 million. What can be done?

CARING FOR THOSE BATTLING ADDICTIONS

Drug overdose deaths have more than tripled in the U.S. since 1990.

In the United States, 2021 tragically marked a record-high number of drug-involved overdose deaths. The drug epidemic surge over the past few years is not unique to the U.S., as the global illicit drug industry produces over $500 billion in revenue annually. Globally, about 1 in 100 people suffers right now with a drug addiction.

The exploding drug and alcohol abuse problems compound other issues. Addiction accelerates people into isolation, fuels violence, and fractures families. The addicted and their loved ones suffer as addictions destroy trust and fray relationships.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

Phil Thompson and Aubrey McCarthy established Tiglin in Ireland to help the whole person, not just treat the substance abuse.
