The world is suffering from an epidemic of loneliness.
The strain on families has only escalated over the past few decades. Performance-driven cultures pressure parents to enroll their children in demanding and competitive educational and recreational endeavors. The ways parents and children use technology often drive them from relationships with each other. As a result, rates of mental illness and sadness among teens have soared in recent years.
At the same time, we recognize the growing isolation and abandonment of our society’s elderly population and commit to caring for our family members as they age. In the last few years, Japan and the UK appointed a minister for loneliness and the surgeon general of the United States declared loneliness a “new public health epidemic.” Isolation is “worse for health than smoking 15 cigarettes a day,”* and particularly puts the elderly at risk. We believe God designed his people for relationship. And, we support organizations repairing the harms of isolation, build companies that bring people together, and invest in businesses that prioritize the nurturing of relationship.
We believe families are a bedrock institution for healthy societies. We build ventures that prioritize the role employees play as parents and we support nonprofits and churches in caring for marriages and families.
