Over the last few decades, the number of children skipping out on school has fallen significantly. Likewise, literacy rates and the share of students achieving minimum learning outcomes have grown. But major challenges continue to impede student academic growth and often downplay or ignore the formation of character and virtues.
We believe all children should have the opportunity to pursue a quality education. This is a justice issue and one that all Christians should care about. Much of the modern debate in the evangelical subculture on education relates to whether Christian parents should choose public, private, or homeschool for their children.
But the broader issue relates to parents who have no choice at all. For parents in many parts of the United States and across the globe, school choice is an unfamiliar luxury. Stuck in low-performing government schools or unaffordable private schools, many parents lack any good education options for their children.
How can the Church advocate for all children to have high-quality school options for parents?

The Global Education Crisis—Even More Severe Than Previously Estimated
UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank has sounded the alarm: this generation of students now risks losing $17 trillion in lifetime earnings in present value, or about 14% of today’s global GDP, because of COVID-19-related school closures and economic shocks. This new projection far exceeds the $10 trillion estimate released in 2020 and reveals that the impact of the pandemic is more severe than previously thought.
